Term |
Explanation |
µm |
Micrometer - one one-thousandth of a millimeter. |
P/E |
Front side polished, back side alkaline etched. |
P/P |
Both sides polished. |
Empak |
Empak cassettes are the most common cassettes used for shipping silicon wafers.
These hold a maximum of 25 wafers each. |
Prime |
Prime grade - our wafers are high quality and confirm to industry standards. |
Ωcm |
Ohm*cm, the unit of measure for resistivity. |
SEMI |
SEMI is the industry association that sets standards for semiconductor wafers. |
Flats |
Wafers are essentially circular disks. Flats are a method used to convey crystallographic orientation and dopant typing by removing small sections of the wafer along the edge of that disk, which produces a flat boundary in what would normally be the round/circular boundary of the disk. A maximum of 2 flats are used, with the major (primary) flat typically indicating the {110} orientation. |
